Brahmasthan is also Good Place for Pooja Room
Here is why and how to arrange your pooja room according to Vastu:
-
Location: As indicated above, entire area between East to North is auspicious for Pooja or Worship room. The order of preference is clearly mentioned in the table. North-East is the best place, as it is also called as Ishan Kone (Gods place) in Vedic terminology. I have only given best 5 preferences, as the place is so important, it cannot be least prioritised.
Five most preferred direction for Pooja Room or Worship Room are:
Priority 1 – North-East (N-E), also known as (ईशानकोण )
Priority 2 – East of North-East (E-NE)
Priority 3 – North of North-East (N-NE)
Priority 4 – East (E)
Priority 5 – North (N)
Other than this, Brahmasthan i.e. the Centre of the House is also ideal for Pooja Room.
East of South-East (E-SE), North of North-West (N-NW) and West (W) are three other directions, where the Pooja Ghar or Worship Room can be made, if first five directions mentioned above are not available. These directions and their degrees are mentioned in yellow in the diagram above.

Idol Placement: The idol should be on the east wall, allowing worshippers to face the east while praying, which is considered auspicious. They can also be kept on North wall, which will allow worshippers to face North while praying. Idol should never be placed on a South wall. Idols of deities should never be kept in a bedroom.
Door and Window Placement: The door and window should be on east or north, as these are considered directions for positive flow of energy.

Colour: Light yellow, saffron, off-white, light blue are favourable colours, as they symbolise purity and energy.
Material: Wood is the best material, as it is light weight and this area between East to North, should always be kept light weight, as per Vastu Shastra principles.
Other Tips: Pooja room should be in ground floor, basements and top floors should be avoided. Always maintain a proper cleanliness in the room. The Pooja room should be well ventilated and well lit.
I have covered almost all the basics of the Pooja room or Worship room. However, if you have queries you can always reach out to me. It is recommended to use Vastu principles with an expert to avoid the errors.
